WHO WE ARE

"Helping People Help Animals"
Greenville County Animal Care is the premier destination in Greenville County for animal related services in our community. We operate a full service, open admission animal shelter facility that serves Greenville County residents and their pets. We do not turn anyone away. We take in more than 20,000 homeless and forgotten pets every year and work collaboratively with many animal welfare organizations and municipal animal control agencies to provide intake, adoption, spay-neuter and pet wellness services, humane education, fostering and volunteer opportunities.

WHO WE ARE NOT:
We are NOT Animal Control. For a list of animal control agencies in Greenville County, see the "Resource" tab on GreenvillePetCONNECT.

We are NOT the Humane Society, however we perform very similar functions, including animal adoption, spay-neuter and pet wellness services, humane education, fostering and volunteer opportunities. To find your local Humane Society and other non-profit animal welfare organizations in/around Greenville County, please visit www.petfinder.com

OUR VISION:
At Greenville County Animal Care, we envision a day when all citizens, their property, and their neighborhoods will be safe from the dangers and nuisances of irresponsible pet guardianship, and animals will not suffer because of human abuse, neglect, or ignorance.

OUR MISSION:
Eliminate animal euthanasia as a means of population control by developing proactive strategies aimed at pet reclamation, retention, and rehoming efforts.
Strengthen animal welfare laws and other ordinances that negatively impact animals and help pet owners make responsible choices.

Visibly reduce animal neglect and pet overpopulation by providing affordable veterinary and spay-neuter services and ensuring that it is accessible to everyone who wants it.

ADOPTIONS
Come meet our wonderful adoptable pets! There are dogs and cats of all sizes and ages, as well as occasionally some furry little friends, such as hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits. All of our animals have received a pre-adoption veterinary exam and behavior assessment. They are just waiting on YOU to provide them a loving home.

Every time you adopt a pet from Animal Care, you enable us to save the life of another animal in great need. With thousands of animals entering our doors each year, you make a real difference by adopting from us. Not only do you save a life by adopting a homeless pet, their companionship may even improve your health. There are numerous benefits ~ lowered blood pressure, a reason to exercise, etc. Most importantly, you will bring home a companion with whom to share your life and provide you with laughter, comfort and unconditional love.

Come view our dogs/cats available for adoption.
Which cat or dog is right - and ready - for you? Read our How to Adopt before coming in, and then visit us Monday through Friday from 12:00 - 7:00 p.m. or Saturday from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. We hope to see you soon!

When you arrive at Animal Care, come to our Adoptions Center. Here, you can see our adorable animal friends just waiting on the right home. We have puppy and dog rooms, kitten and cat rooms, as well as other furry friends who might come through our doors. You can walk through our Adoption Center and admire all the cute and wonderful animals for adoption. It will be important to think what is best for you. An older dog with lower energy? A puppy with boundless energy? A kitten to watch play? An adult cat to lay with you on the couch and relax?

When you have questions or want to meet a potential new friend, a friendly Adoptions Counselor will love to work with you. Their goal is to help you find the animal friend who would be best for your lifestyle. They will guide you on breed personalities and what you may expect when you bring your new friend home.

You may visit with the dogs/cats who you and your family think you might connect with. You may even bring your dog with you to test their compatibility. It is important to be as sure as you can before adopting an animal friend.

You will need to bring the following to adopt:
Picture ID with your current address. For example, a Driver's License or State ID.
Proof of age (you must be 18 or older to adopt a pet from Animal Care)
Proper form of payment (cash, credit/debit card, money order). Checks are accepted with a current Driver's License.
A carrier for your adopted kitty or a leash and collar for your adopted dog. Don't have these items? Don't worry - we will have these and many more wonderful items for your new pet available for purchase at our Pet Supply Store and Boutique.

Our adoption fees are an amazing value!

All adoptions will include the following:

DONATE
There are always animals that come through Animal Care that need a little extra boost - someone to be their champion. For some pets, their owners may love them but can't afford the cost of a small procedure or treatment - your donation can help them stay with their family. Others may need help with vet care to get on their way to their new forever home. There are many ways to help animals that come through our doors.

For more information on ways to make a difference to animals in our community, visit our website and click on "Donate".

Great Place to Volunteer
All the staff is very appreciative as well as the animals! There are so many great programs there that people young and old can volunteer, regardless of your skill or physical abilities.
